Privacy Policy

Overview

Mochi is an intermittent fasting app for women, operated by SYX STUDIO SDN. BHD. ("we", "our", or "the company"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data Mochi collects, how we use it, and your rights.

Data Storage

Your personal data is stored on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework and synced to your private iCloud container so the data follows your Apple ID across devices. We do not operate user databases of your health information. The synced copy lives in your own iCloud account, which Apple does not give us access to. The only server we operate is a thin proxy that forwards AI companion requests to Anthropic (see "AI Companion" below).

Data We Collect

The following data is created on your device and synced to your private iCloud container:

• Period log: Last period date and cycle length. Used by the AI companion to soften its tone on heavy days. We do not predict cycle phases.
• Fasting sessions: Start time, end time, duration, and body status phases reached.
• Mood and energy logs: Optional mood and energy entries you choose to record.
• Preferences: Your app settings, notification preferences, and onboarding choices.

This data lives in your own iCloud private container. We do not have access to it. If you sign out of iCloud or disable iCloud Drive for Mochi, the data stays on the device only.

Subscriptions

Mochi uses RevenueCat to manage subscriptions and in-app purchases. RevenueCat processes your subscription status through Apple's App Store. RevenueCat may collect anonymous purchase data and device identifiers for subscription management purposes. For details, see RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.

Analytics

We use PostHog (hosted in the EU) to understand how people use Mochi so we can improve the app. PostHog receives:

• Screen names you view (e.g. "goal", "paywall")
• Anonymous button events (e.g. "trial started")
• Device type and app version
• Onboarding survey answers (e.g. selected fasting protocol, eating window, goals) tied to an anonymous device-generated ID
• Companion (AI chat) conversations: messages you send and the AI's replies, used to improve Mochi's voice and tone over time
• Anonymous metrics about each AI call (model, response time, token counts, error rates)

Outside of the AI companion (described below), PostHog does not receive: your cycle dates, last period date, cycle length, weight values, mood/energy logs, fast start and end times, or any other on-device health entries.

Session replay (screen recording) is permanently disabled. We never record your screen.

AI Companion

Mochi includes an opt-in AI chat feature ("the companion") powered by Anthropic's Claude. You must accept a consent screen before using it. When you send a message:

• Your message and a small context summary (current fast progress, recent fast history, today's body status, whether you are on your period, days since your last period, your fasting protocol, your eating window, mood/energy if recently logged) are sent through a Cloudflare Worker we operate to Anthropic's API.
• Anthropic processes the request and returns a reply. Per Anthropic's commercial terms, your messages are not used to train their models.
• We do not store your AI conversations on our own servers. The Cloudflare Worker is a stateless proxy.
• Both your messages and the AI's replies are sent to PostHog (analytics) so we can review the quality of the experience and tune Mochi's voice. Crisis-related responses are filtered before logging.

If you'd rather not have AI chat conversations logged or sent to Anthropic, you can decline the consent screen, or disable the AI companion in Settings. The rest of the app works without it, and your on-device health data is not transmitted anywhere.

Data We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect your name, email address, or account information.
• We do not track your location.
• We do not use advertising SDKs or sell your data.
• We do not share your data with any third party other than PostHog (analytics, EU-hosted), RevenueCat (subscription billing), and Anthropic (only when you use the opt-in AI companion).
• We do not store your health data (cycle dates, weight, fasting times, mood entries) on our servers. Those stay on your device, except for the small context summary sent to the AI companion if you choose to use it.

Data Retention and Deletion

Since all personal data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it. You can delete all your data at any time by deleting the Mochi app from your device. There is no server-side data to request deletion of.

Children's Privacy

Mochi is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
